ABOUT ABOUT

Local history and high drama collide in the Hub Theatre's revival of  "Goodly Creatures," a two-act drama by William Gibson ("The Miracle Worker," "Golda's Balcony") focusing on the religious schism created by Anne Hutchinson and her followers in 1630's Boston that nearly tore the young colony apart.
Anne Hutchinson and her husband William arrive in Boston in 1634 to follow her spiritual mentor, Rev. John Cotton. Her warmth, wit and medicinal skill make her a much loved figure, although she finds herself at odds with other local ministers. When she and her followers become politically powerful, Governor Winthrop's steps to 'moderate' her influence grow increasingly forceful, until he has to betray his own principles to protect the colony he loves.

The First Church In Boston, originally founded by Winthrop and the original Massachusetts Bay settlers, is the ideal venue for this rarely-performed drama.

As part of the Hub Theatre's inclusive mission, all seats are Pay What You Can, meaning you set the value of your ticket when you order. Around $20 is appreciated - if you're on a tight budget, feel free to pay less, but any extra generosity will go a long way toward covering production costs.
